Terry Lee Laws, age 66, of Middlesboro, KY formerly of Harlan began celebrating in heaven when he took his final journey to glory on September 10, 2014. Terry was born in Tinsley, KY to the late Floyd and Gladys Oakey Laws on May 14, 1948. He worked for General Motors and retired as a coal miner from Terry Glenn Coal. Co. He was a member of the Binghamtown Baptist Church. On May 6, 1966 Terry married his wife, Marie, of 48 years. Over the years they were blessed with many of life’s gifts but the most special was 3 loving sons and 3 grandchildren. Terry was passionate about his family and friends. He was what some may have considered a “simple man” who enjoyed the simple things in life including sitting on the porch petting his dog Max and long afternoon car rides. On May 14th of this year, Terry and his family celebrated his 66th birthday with over 40 people in attendance celebrating his life.
Terry is preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Jerry and Timothy Laws.
He is survived by his wife, Marie, and 3 sons: Terry Laws and daughter in law, Kaye, Jeff and James Laws all of Middlesboro, KY; 3 grandchildren: Brooke Laws and fiancé, Adam Holt, of Knoxville, TN, Nicholas Laws of Middlesboro, KY and Britt Noe of Cawood, KY; 2 brothers, Gary Laws and wife, JoAnn of Harlan and John Cloud and wife, Shawn, of Lily, KY; 2 sisters: Shirley Laws Welch of Johnson City, TN and Frankie Cloud of Orlando, FL; sister in law, Kathy Laws, of Lawrenceburg, KY and several nieces and nephews.
The family will be receiving friends Monday, September 15 from 11am to 1:30PM at the Binghamtown Baptist Church, Middlesboro, KY. Funeral will follow at 1:30PM with the Dr. William Boyd Bingham lll officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Cemetery, Keith, KY with friends and family serving as pallbearers. The Lord’s angels rejoice when his saints come home.
Special thanks to Dr. Patel and his entire nursing and office staff, Dr. Lee and his entire nursing and office staff as well as the numerous chemotherapy nurses and staff members who held Terry’s hand and supported the family through this amazing journey. The family would also like to extend a special thanks to Terry’s church friends at Binghamtown Baptist Church, Orbin Aneix, Kenny Flowers, and Preacher Bingham for the many visits, calls, prayers, and loving support over the past few years.
