Shirlene Thomas Gross

Shirlene Thomas Gross, age 72, of Sawbriar, KY went to be with the Lord on April 10, 2014 in Lexington, KY. She was born February 7, 1942 to the late Virgil (Red) Thomas and Kathrin Melton Thomas. She was a member of the Church of God of the Free People for over 45 years.
Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Filous (Pa Paw) Gross; two step mothers who she loved dearly, Katie Clowers Thomas and Lillian Ruth Saylor Thomas; two brothers: Marshel Clinton (MC) Thomas and Chester Clowers, and one sister, Margaret Clowers.
Left to mourn her passing is her 3 children: Robert Gross and Debbie of Rosspoint, KY, Jolen Gross Stewart and Barney of Sawbriar, KY; Jamie Gross and Melanie of Lily, KY; 6 grandchildren she loved with all her heart: Derrick Gross and Krista of Rosspoint, Laura Gross Hutchings and Michael of Sawbriar, KY, Autumn, Michelle, Sabrina Elisabeth, Lillian (Lily) Stewart all of Sawbriar, KY, Jamie Leanna Gross of Lexington, KY, Christian Gross of Lily, KY, 2 special little boys and a girl who she loved as they were her own grandchildren, Matthew Hampton, Blaine Stevens and Nevaeh Saylor; 5 sisters: Debbie Thomas Knox and Joe, Pateresa Thomas Catalina, Sue Gross and Gilbert, Della Tidwell and Donny, Vickie Moore all of Knoxville, TN; several brothers and sisters-in-law and church family who she loved dearly.
Visitation will begin Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 6PM at the Church of God of the Free People, Fairview, KY and will last until the funeral hour. Funeral will be Monday, April 14, 2014 at 1PM also at the Church of God of the Free People with the Reverends Vonny Jones and Pete Fee officiating. Burial will be at the Gross Cemetery on Lay Hill at Tremont, KY with family and brothers of the church serving as pallbearers.
