Ruth Darlene Johnson

Ruth Darlene Johnson, age 88, of Harlan/Louisville, KY went to be with the Lord June 12, 2014 at the Harlan Health and Rehabilitation Center, Harlan, KY. She was born September 12, 1925 in Harlan Co., KY to the late John Leonard and Rose Nell Doeple Broyles. Ruth grew up in Harlan, KY and then moved to and resided in Louisville, KY with her husband, the late Bill Johnson who passed November 20, 2013. Ruth served her church and Lord for 40 years in Christian ministries with her last church membership being the Walnut Street Baptist Church, Louisville, KY.
Besides her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her siblings, James Broyles, Mary Lou Clowers, Pearl Meadors, Gladys Simpson, Bonnie Smiddy, Lena Woolum and Ella Faye McCurry; nephew, Acey Cornett, Jr. whom was as dear as a son and adored his children Bridgett, John, and Missy and his wife, Doris.
Left to mourn her passing is her son, Bill Ray Johnson, of Harlan, KY, daughter, Linda Ruth Byrd of Indiana, granddaughter, Cindy Hills and husband Dave along with great granddaughter, Macy Hills of TN, brothers Joe (Florence) Broyles of Dayton, OH and Eugene (Judy) Broyles of FL; sisters, Dorsa Lee (Wendell) Hensley of New Carlisle, OH, and Sue Brown of Danville, KY; sister-in-law, Opal Cornett of Teetersville, several nieces and nephews, Tammy (Gary) Hubbs, Pat Burgan, Hope (Doug) Bowling, Sandra (Charles Garrett) Sargent, Joann (Bill) Thomas all of the Harlan area. Also Kim Thomas of KY, Rachel Goodwin of KY, Janice Warren and her siblings, Roger Johnson and Rita from KY, IN and FL and some very dear great-nieces and nephews as well.
Visitation will be Sunday, June 15, 2014 at the Teetersville Baptist Church from 4 to 7PM. Funeral will follow at 7PM with Rev. Bobby Joe Rouse officiating. Ruth will be laid to rest at Resthaven Cemetery, Keith, KY at 11AM with friends and family serving as pallbearers.
