Obituary:
Roscoe Whitehead, a beloved coal miner and a devout Christian, has peacefully pased away in Morristown TN. Born on April 9, 1945, in Leslie County, KY, Roscoe led a life filled with faith, family, and friendship. He was a cherished member of the Bean Station Church of God where he found solace in prayer and reading his Bible.
In his 79 years of life, Roscoe touched the hearts of many with his kind spirit and unwavering love for those around him. He is remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Roscoe is preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Naomi Whitehead; his daughter, Sadie Whitehead; and his siblings Oscar Whitehead, Theodore Whitehead, Dexter Whitehead, Alfred Whitehead, and Lottie Dixon.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion as he is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Patsy Whitehead; his sons Lloyd Whitehead, Craig Hoffman, Darrell Hoffman; his daughter Rita Cornett; brothers Manuel Whitehead and Ted (Thelma) Whitehead; sisters, Algerobie Couch and Mary Greene. Roscoe will also be deeply missed by his grandchildren Rebecca Cornett, Dale Haywood, Samantha Shepherd; as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who are mourning alongside the family.
The visitation to honor Roscoe's life will take place at the Bean Station Church of God on Friday, May 17th from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Additional visitation services will be held at Mount Pleasant Funeral Home in Harlan on Saturday, May 18th from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, funeral service will follow in the chapel at 1 pm. with interment to follow at Resthaven Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
In this time of sorrow, let us remember Roscoe for the love he shared and the light he brought into the lives of those around him. May he rest in peace knowing that he was cherished by many and his memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
