Roena Johnson, age 86, passed away Aug. 13, 2014 at the Harlan ARH following a brief illness. She was born April 18, 1928 Hubbard Springs, VA to the late Henry Pendleton and Flossie Hester Covey. She was retired from the Harlan ARH and believed in the Baptist faith. Her hobbies were crochet, word search, and making things for friends. She loved to cook and make homemade goodies and especially enjoyed spending time with her family whom she loved dearly.
Besides her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Ollie James Johnson; brothers, James and Eugene Pendleton; sisters, Myrtle Johnson and Eula Madon.
She is survived by 3 children: Pat Johnson of Baxter, Jim (Varlie) Johnson of Baxter and Betty Lou Craig of Ladson, SC; grandchildren: Sherri (Brian) Edinger, Charleston, SC, Jeff (Angie) Craig, Jim (Terri) Johnson of Springhill, FL, Melanie (Todd) Adams of Putney, and Denise (Tony) Owens of Wallins; great-grandchildren: Brett, Tyler, Emily, Brittany, Leslie, Shelby, Darby, Harley, Elijah, Hunter, Braxton, Addison, Kaitlyn, and Cameron.
Visitation will be Saturday, August 16 from 11AM to 1PM at Mount Pleasant Funeral Home. Funeral will follow at 1PM in the chapel of Mount Pleasant with the Rev. Wayne Curry officiating. Burial will be at the Johnson Cemetery, Baxter with friends and family serving as pallbearers.
