On January 11, 2023, Mrs. Patricia Jean Bennett, "Mrs. Clyde", age 90, passed away at her home in Grays Knob, KY, surrounded by her loved ones and caregivers.
Mrs. Bennett was preceded in death by her husband Clyde, son C.V. Bennett III and Jonathan Bennett, sister-in-law Eleanor Bennett and mother-in-law FairAnna H. Creech.
Surviving are her children, Eva Catherine Bennett, Karen B. Loving (Terry), Joe Bennett, Darby Bennett (Jyssica); daughter-in-law Blanche Bennett; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her brothers Harold Parsons (Lanola), and Don Parsons (Linda); special sisters-in-law Christina Bennett, Nitza Bennett, Barbara Parsons, special cousin Bettye Moody and her dog Daisy.
Patricia was born on July 12, 1932, to the late Curtis S. Parsons and Estle Grant Parsons. She attended Evarts High School, Ward Belmont High School (Nashville, TN), and Union College, where she was Mountain Laurel Festival Queen in 1950. A member of the Harlan Baptist Church, she received an honorary Doctorate from the University of the Cumberlands in 2011. Patricia was involved with the family businesses for many years. A devoted mother and wife, she enjoyed painting, reading, cooking & baking, and especially enjoyed sharing the gifts of her kitchen. She was a beloved, wonderful mother, grandmother, and a great-grandmother known affectionately as "Patty Cakes: or "My Patty."
The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 14, 2023, from 10:30 AM until 12:00 PM, with the funeral to follow at 12:00 PM at the Harlan Baptist Church with the Reverend John Ditty officiating. . Interment will follow at Resthaven Cemetery with her grandsons serving as pallbearers.
In addition to flowers, memorial gifts may be made in memory of Mrs. Bennett to Bluegrass Care Navigators, Clear Creek Bible College, the Shriners Hospital for Children, and the Harlan Baptist Church.
Special thanks to her caregivers, Linda Fisher, Robbin Howard, Vickie Baker, and Ruby Partin, for their extraordinary care during our mother's illness.
