Mr. Otto Baker, age 77, of Big Laurel, passed away on Thursday, August 11, 2022, at the Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital.
Mr. Baker was born on October 7, 1944, to the late Jim and Clarinda Baker. Otto was an over-the-road truck driver and worked on the ship Edmund Fitzgerald. He loved to golf, fish, and mow grass, and his lawn had to be perfect.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, James Baker and Alonzo Baker, and sister, Ruth Carroll Romaker.
Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Patricia Boggs Baker; daughters, Kimberly Boggs and husband Mike, Dianne Boggs and husband Sonny, and Kathy Turner and husband, Timothy; sister, Rita Francis and husband, Tom; grandchildren, Zachary Boggs, Courtney Boggs, Jordan Lewis and wife, Susanna, Jade Farmer, and husband James, Paxton Howard, Brittany Pennington, Chase Pennington and wife, Erica, Presli Pennington, Paytin Pennington, and Paige Howard; great-grandchildren, Ava Saylor and Braycie Pennington and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends also survive.
The family will receive friends in the chapel of Mount Pleasant Funeral Home on Monday, August 15, 2022, from 1 PM until 3 PM, with the funeral to follow at 3 PM with the Reverends Eugene Harris and Bobby Boggs officiating. Nolan Lodge #806 F&AM will conduct Masonic rights. Interment will follow in the Boggs-Baker Cemetery at Big Laurel, with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
