Michael “Bear” Honeycutt, 64 of Coldiron, took to the sky on April 1st, 2024 at his home surrounded by his loved ones. Bear was born on April 8th, 1959 in Harlan, Ky, the son of Don and Pollyanna Honeycutt.
Bear was one of the best loader men across the area. He and Chief loved to brag about all the times he loaded 300 loads or more. Bear’s big personality and boldness was infectious, he wasn’t called “The Bear” for just no reason. The last 12 years you’d find him fishing and spending time with his family, even though he had to take the fish off the hook for his two son in laws. Bear loved days by his pond with his grandkids. He loved to attend church with his oldest daughter and reminisce with his youngest daughter about her sports days. Joy, Bears wife, was the one thing he talked most about. The two were married for 45 years. Riding his motorcycle fast down the coast with her was talked about often and we can’t forget his popular peanut butter fudge.
Bear is preceded in death by his Parents, Don and Pollyanna Honeycutt; Brother, Donnie Honeycutt.
Left rejoicing in his memories in the Lord are his Wife, Joy Honeycutt; Two Daughters, April Phillips Leath and Husband Bill and Krystal Collett and Husband Vernon; Five Grandchildren, Dylan Phillips, Dawson Phillips, Bella Leath, Gage Collett and Zoey Collett; One Nephew, Dallas Honeycutt Kraiosky and Wife Andrea; Sister in Laws, Von Blanton, Teresa Brigmon and Gaye Hensley; Brother in laws, Gene White, Tommy Brigmon and a Brother in law that was more like a Brother, Dewayne “Bones” Hensley; Two best friends, James “Frog” Blevins and Sandy Simpson Hendrickson. A host of special friends and family also mourn his passing.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 4th, 2024 from 5PM to 7PM in the Chapel of Mount Pleasant Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7PM with Jeremy Blevins and Josh Coots officiating. Graveside services will be held on Friday, April 5th, 2024 at Park Howard Cemetery in Wallins at 1PM. Family and Friends will serve as pallbearers.
The LORD replied:
“My son, my precious child, I love you and I would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering, when you seen only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you.”
In the famous word of Bear:
