Merkie Ann "Big Nanny" Estridge

Merkie Ann “Big Nanny” Estridge, age 88, of Loyall, KY passed away August 2, 2014 at her home following a long illness. She was born October 21, 1925 at Bledsoe, KY to the late Abe and Nancy Huff Bailey. She was self-employed and a member of Cornerstone Church, Baxter, KY. She believed in the Church of God faith.

Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Estridge, grandson, Rex Parsons; brothers: Charlie, John, Berto and Richard Bailey; sisters: Vina Johnson and Flora Burns.

Left to mourn her passing are her children: Fran Parsons of Lexington/Loyall, KY, Barbara (Damon) Alred, Nancy “Dolly” (Perky) Bryant, and Rex Estridge all of Loyall; brothers: Elihu Bailey of Bledsoe, Abe Bailey of Gulston, and Otto Bailey of West Memphis, Arkansas; sisters: Rose Pace of Wallins, KY, Teresa Johnson of Ypsilanti, Michigan, Lydia Caldwell of Bledsoe, KY, and Lola Brock of Jackson Co., KY, grandchildren: Rick Parsons, Dusty Alred, Russell Alred, Anissa Alred, Leanne Huff, Stacey Noah; great grandchildren: Cory Parsons, Rhett, Rhileigh, Ally, and Darren Alred, Emersyn and Trent Noah, Cameron Carmical, Jackson and Maddox Huff.

Visitation will be Tuesday, August 5 from 5 to 8PM at Mount Pleasant Funeral Home. Funeral will follow at 8PM in the chapel of Mount Pleasant with the Reverends Jeff Mills and Jason Collins officiating. Interment will be at 11AM at Resthaven Cemetery, Keith, KY with grandsons Rick Parsons, Dusty Alred, Russell Alred, and great-grandsons Cory Parsons, Rhett Alred, and Cameron Carmical serving as pallbearers.
