With a heavy heart, we announce the passing of Mr. Matthew Hollon, a beloved member of the Bledsoe community, who left us on August 8, 2024, at Saint Joseph's Hospital in Lexington. Mr. Hollon was born on June 30, 1952, in Perry County, Kentucky, and his departure has left a void in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Mr. Hollon led a fulfilling life, dedicated both to his work and his faith. He worked diligently for 11 years at the Eastover Mining Company and served as a Preacher in the Church of God Faith since 1988. His commitment to his career and Christian Faith touched the lives of many and left an indelible mark on those around him.
Known for his passion for Gospel music and skilled craftsmanship in leatherwork, Mr. Hollon's interests were as diverse as they were profound. These passions illuminated his vibrant personality and endeared him to all who crossed his path.
His surviving family members will cherish the memory of Mr. Hollon: his wife, Dottie Hollon; son, Wesley Hollon of Bledsoe; daughter, Bethsheba Baker, and husband, James of Monticello; brothers, Mark Hollon and wife Carol of Ohio, and Shelby Hughes. Their loss is immeasurable, and our thoughts and prayers are with them during this difficult time.
In honoring Mr. Hollon's memory, we also remember those who preceded him in death: his parents, Ceasar and Viola Hollon; brothers Gary Hughes, Aaron Hughes, and Wallace Allen; and sister Barbara Miller. In addition to his immediate family, many nieces, nephews, and relatives survive Mr. Hollon and a host of friends who will carry his legacy in their hearts.
Mr. Matthew Hollon's visitation will occur on August 11, 2024, at Mount Pleasant Funeral Home from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. The funeral service will follow at 3:00, with Reverends Justin Collett, Joanne, and Lonnie Napier officiating.
