Lisa Scearse

October 6, 1960 — May 15, 2017

Lisa Mae Scearse- wife, mother, sister, family, neighbor, and friend passed from this world into Heaven with her husband by her bedside on May 15, 2017 after a battle with cancer. She was 56 years old. She was a Christian and maintained until the end that God’s will be done-even if we don’t understand it.
Lisa was survived by her husband, Keith Scearse: children, Mary (Brandy) Scearse, Keith Scearse Jr. (R.J.), Harold Glenn Joseph (Peanut) and Nancy (Aaron) Cole, grandchildren: Kyler Scearse, Erika Dixon, Tamika Dixon, and Shaela Dixon. She is also survived by her brother Larry (Patricia) Coots, two sisters-Mary Ann (William) Turner, and Edna (Granville) Partin. She is also survived by a host of family, neighbors, and friends that will miss her dearly.
Lisa was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Frankie Coots.
Lisa would tell you her greatest achievement in life was her family. She was married to Keith for 37 years and most of her time was spent sending him across the country -He is a truck driver so that was actually quite helpful and not at all a mean thing to do. The rest of the time she was a devoted mother helping out her children from this mess or that, or just being there for them with anything they could need. She was the best example of a mother possible-including to her grandchildren-loving and spoiling them was a joy to her and she will be missed beyond measure. She was an amazing, kind, gentle woman always there to help anyone out-unless you messed with one of her family and then she would go after you with everything she had. She was a determined woman doing exactly as she wished right up to and including her death. Ask anyone close to her and they will tell you that there was no one else like her. She was patient and kind while still being able to find a laugh in odd places. Family members will remember the various weird and funny cards they got for Holidays as one of her unique hobbies.
Services will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Mount Pleasant Funeral Home in Harlan, Kentucky. Ken Smith and Harold Turner will be officiating. Visitation with Family will be at 12:00p.m. With Memorial Services held directly after at 3:00p.m.
Lisa requested that no one send flowers-in her own lovingly stubborn words “If you didn’t bring them to me when I could enjoy them, I don’t need them now.” And while the family appreciates all gestures they ask that you honor these wishes.
Lisa also requested that we celebrate her life and not mourn her passing!
