Laura Seals King, 94 years young, passed away peacefully on Friday November 15, 2019 at Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital. She was born on October 10, 1925 to the late Robert and Maude Seals. She was a member of the Redbud Missionary Baptist Church and was active in the activities at the Harlan Health and Rehabilitation Center. She retired from the Harlan County Board of Education after 17 years of being a Cook at the Old Black Mountain School. Laura gave her whole heart, mind, body and soul to God first and then her family. She was a pillar of love, strength and knowledge to all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her husband Cobern King, parents: Robert and Maude Nolan Seals, Brothers; Grant, Jim, Jesse, Frank, Glen and Bobby Joe, Sisters: Wilma and Ora Lucy, daughter Rosie Lynn, grandsons Steve and Bobby Jr. Great granddaughter Autumn, son in laws: Glen, Bob, Junior and Reid.
She leaves to cherish her memory her children: Bobby King Sr. and wife Janice of Evarts, Jessie King and wife Helen of Ewing, VA, Margaret Ferrazza and husband David of Oneida, TN, Lois Neal and husband Jim of Pine Knot, KY, Joyce Kinney of Evarts, Christine King of Highsplint, 23 grandchildren, 53 great grandchildren and 25 Great great-grandchildren, 3 of which will be here in the near future, Lord willing, sisters: Myrtle Brewer of Cawood and Betty Arvin of Gulston.
Visitation will be in the chapel of Mount Pleasant Funeral Home on Sunday November 17, 2019 from 5 to 8 PM and Monday November 18, 2019 from 11 to 1 PM with funeral beginning at 1 pm with Pastor John Luttrell and Brother Dax Taulbee officiating. Interment will follow in the Middleton Cemetery in Red Bud with Grandsons serving as pallbearers.
