Kelly Dee Trosper of Evarts, Kentucky, passed away on September 5, 2024, at the age of 72. Born on November 17, 1951, Kelly lived a life enriched by his varied career as a coal miner and electrician, showcasing his work ethic and commitment to providing for his family. His contributions to the workforce were complemented by his honorable service in the United States Air Force, reflecting his dedication to his country.
He is survived by his loving daughters, Kelly Trosper Farley (Henry), Cecilia Hughes, and Rebecca Trosper and Christy Reddington; his sons, Eric Trosper and Derek Trosper; and his cherished grandchildren, Andrew Risner (Alexis), Tara Farley (Joey Lankford), and Jennifer Farley (Jeremiah Collett). Kelly also leaves behind his partner of 20 years, Carolyn Howard, who stood beside him through the many chapters of his life. He is further survived by his brothers, James “Porky” Trosper (Otella), Jerry Hickey (Donna) and Willard Hickey, Jr. (Jeannie); his sisters, Shirley Watkins, Nannie Jewel Hickey, and Mitzi Doepel (Ronnie).
Kelly was preceded in death by his son, Kelly Trosper Jr.; his parents, Bill and Gearldine Hickey; his grandparents, Buck and Jerusha "Granny" Browning; and his brothers, Jack Blanton and John Hickey, along with his sister, Peggy Stewart. Their memories will forever be a part of his legacy.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on September 8, 2024, at Mount Pleasant Funeral Home in Harlan, KY, The funeral service will take place the following day, September 9, 2024, starting at 3:00 PM with the Reverend Bill Moore officiating. Interment will follow at the Tway Cemetery.
The life of Kelly Dee Trosper was one interwoven with the love of family and friends, resonating through his connections and commitments. His spirit will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
