Judy Ann (Bustle) Laws, our beloved "tough old bird," passed away at home on June 15, 2024, with her trademark humor intact and surrounded by her adoring family. Born on April 11, 1947, in Lynch, Kentucky, Judy found her true calling in Harlan, Kentucky, where she dedicated herself as a wife, mother and educator. Judy was more than a teacher; she was a force of nature who never met a stranger. Her former students cherish memories of her classroom antics that seamlessly blended laughter with thought-provoking lessons. Her ability to weave tales and swap stories made her a true rarity in today's digital age.
As a mother and granny, she delighted in regaling her family with tales of her mischievous adventures, leaving behind a legacy as colorful as her spirited personality. Judy's love for her family was as fierce as her opinions on everything from politics to the flaws in the education system. Her sharp wit and unyielding spirit spoke volumes about her resilience and unwavering determination, traits she carried through life's ups and downs, including her valiant but brief battle with cancer.
Judy is reunited in death with her Parents, Eudas and Bessie (Sawyers) Bustle; Her Brothers, George and Robert Bustle and her Sister Belinda Hogg.
Judy leaves behind a loving husband of 56 years, James; Sister, Eula Nolan and her husband Gary; Daughters, Jamie Ayer and Jennifer Rhymer; Sons-in-law, Chris Ayer and Keith Rhymer; Grandchildren, Hayden & McKenzie Rhymer, Sydney & Isaiah Mullins, Tommy & Jordan Havyar, Dylan & Molly Ayer, Kaci Ayer, and Aidan Ayer; Great-grandchildren, Berklie Rhymer, Haidyn Havyar, Sadie Stanley, Renli Ayer and Ross Ayer; Along with cherished friends, Bob Goins and Medeana Hale-Miniard and a multitude of Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.
A celebration of Judy's spirited life will be held at Mt. Pleasant Funeral Home in Harlan, Kentucky on Wednesday, June 19th, 2024. Visitation will be from 11am-1pm in the Chapel of Mount Pleasant Funeral Home with Funeral Services following at 1PM. Family members will proudly serve as pallbearers. Though Judy has flown from our midst, her infectious spirit and laughter will reverberate through our memories for all time. Rest easy Judy-Poop, you've earned your wings.
