John B. Scott Jr.

John B. Scott Jr., passed away on August 25, 2023, in Harrodsburg, Kentucky. He was born on September 9, 1941, in Harlan County, Kentucky. John will be remembered for loving spirit and warm personality.

John was preceded in death by his parents, John B. Scott Sr., and Vira Ellen Goode Scott; his loving wife Mary Ann Hicks Scott; and his siblings Orpha Pendry, Jewell Seals, Mae Cain-Manasco, Katrine Cain , Patricia Waldron, Morris Scott, Ira Scott, and Robert Scott.

John was a farm laborer and had many interests that brought him joy. He had an unwavering affection for fishing, finding solace and peace in the tranquility of casting a line into the water. His trips to flea markets were always filled with excitement as he searched for unique treasures. Additionally, John had a fascination with old guns and enjoyed collecting them as a hobby. 

One of John's greatest joys in life came from spoiling children who were not his own grandchildren. Although John didn't have biological grandchildren of his own, he shared an incredible bond with the children around him. Their laughter and smiles were music to his ears, and he cherished every moment spent with them.

John is survived by his daughter Erma Scott, who will forever carry her father's love in her heart. He is also survived by his brothers Eugene Scott and Petry Scott.

John B. Scott Jr.'s warm presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him and leaves behind cherished memories shared with family and friends.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, August 31, 2023 from 11 AM until 1 PM in the chapel of Mount Pleasant Funeral Home with funeral services following at 1 PM. Interment will follow at Resthaven Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
