Joel McMurray, age 69 passed away on Tuesday April 4th, 2017 peacefully at his residence. He was a retired truck driver and locksmith and a volunteer fire fighter for the Harlan Rescue Squad and was a member of the Laurel First Pentecostal Church.
Joel is preceded in death by his parents Joel McMurray and Gladys Edwards McMurray.
He is survived by his wife Mary Rose McMurray, children Tammy Day and husband Bobbie Joe of Cumberland, Amanda McMurray of Michigan, Michael McMurray of Florida, Matthew McMurray of Michigan, Martha McMurray of Harlan, Keith McMurray and wife Laura of Smith, David Nolan of Putney, Beverly Simpson and husband Rick of Alabama, and Paul Nolan of Tremont. Grandchildren Sabrina Prickett, Hope McCoy, Tesia Nolan, Justin Nolan, Jayden Nolan, Nikki Day and Brittney Day. Great-Grandchildren Kailee Prickett, Makynzie Prickett, Paisley Prickett and Enoch McCoy. Sisters Patsy Harr and husband Mack of Tennessee and Janie Smith and husband Robert of Tennessee and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Thursday April 6th from 5-8 in the chapel of Mount Pleasant Funeral Home with funeral following at 8 pm with Tommy Vannatter, Lonnie Napier and Jerry Edwards officiating. Graveside service will be Friday April 7th at 2 pm. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Interment will be in the Huff Cemetery in Bledsoe.
