Emblem

Jimmy Martin, born on June 17, 1959, in Harlan, KY, left us on September 30, 2024, in Grays Knob, KY. He was a vibrant soul with the unique gift of making friends wherever he went, never meeting strangers. His warmth and laughter filled every room; those fortunate to know him will deeply miss his joyful spirit. A proud veteran of the United States Army, he cherished his time in the military, taking immense pride in serving his country. This sense of pride extended to his family, especially his daughter Jennifer and his granddaughters Cassie and Danica, who were the true lights of his life.

Jimmy found joy in the great outdoors. He loved nothing more than going four-wheeling in his side-by-side, shooting guns, and indulging in the simple pleasures of nature, especially watching the birds that came to his feeders. His laughter was infectious, often shared with friends while swapping jokes or reminiscing about memorable days. A fan of classic television, he delighted in watching The Andy Griffith Show, with an astonishing knowledge of everything related to the character Barney Fife that brought laughter to many. Jimmy's career spanned decades of working for Clyde Bennett and transitioning to the funeral service working for Big Jim Rich, whom he considered a special friend. Having worked for Mount Pleasant Funeral Home for many years up until his passing, Jimmy greatly respected his professionalism and the families he served.

He is survived by his beloved daughter, Jennifer Flores, and her husband, Eduardo; his brother, Ralph Martin, and wife, Brenda; half-sister, Opal Persha; his cherished granddaughters, Cassie Rush and Danica Pettit; and his girlfriend, Kathy Ham. He also leaves behind a special cousin, Sandy Dobbs, and his Mount Pleasant family—Darla, Holden, Randy, Michelle, Selena, Heath, Darlene, and Kale Jr.—along with numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Martin and Edna Dean Martin; brothers Floyd Baker, Robert Baker, and John Martin; sister Emma Lou Adkins; and nephew Evan Martin. Their memories filled his heart and guided his journey through life.

As we remember Jimmy John Martin, we celebrate a life filled with love, laughter, and loyalty. His vibrant personality and ability to forge connections with everyone he met will be his lasting legacy, and his spirit will forever resonate in the hearts of those he touched. Rest in peace, dear Jimmy; your laugh will always echo in our memories.
