Janice Caldwell, a beloved lunchroom manager at Black Mountain Elementary for 24 years, passed away on October 4, 2023, in her hometown of Harlan, KY. She was born on June 28, 1957, in Harlan, KY.
Janice significantly impacted the students and staff at Black Mountain Elementary during her long and dedicated career as a lunchroom manager. Her warm smile, kind heart, and genuine love for children created a welcoming atmosphere in the cafeteria. Janice always went above and beyond to ensure that every student felt cared for and nourished by the food she served and her unwavering support.
Janice was preceded in death by her parents, Bill Keith and Della Duff, sister Billie Jean Hadley, and father and mother-in-law Will and Hester Caldwell.
Janice's devotion extended to her own family as well. She is survived by her devoted husband, Ronald Caldwell; son, Ryan Curtis; daughter, Jamie Ford (Jerry) and stepson, Eric Caldwell (Laura); sister, Lisa Jones; and brother, David Long (Denise); sister-in-law, Crystal June Liming (Bob); granddaughter RosaLee Grace Caldwell; special granddaughter, Magen Ford; special friend, Robert O'Neal. She will forever be remembered for her compassion, warmth, and ability to make everyone around her feel loved and appreciated. Not to be forgotten is Janice's loyal little dog, Bandit.
A graveside service will be held on October 7, 2023, at the Alex Caldwell Cemetery. The service will take place at 1:00 PM, with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
Janice Caldwell's legacy will live on through the memories shared by those fortunate enough to have known her. She will forever be remembered for her kindness, devotion, and unwavering love for her family and friends. May she rest in eternal peace, knowing that she made a lasting impact on the hearts of those she touched.
