Henrietta "Boots" Turner, affectionately known as Boots, passed away at home surrounded by her family in Wallins, KY on November 10, 2023. She was born on May 4, 1936, in Cawood, KY. Boots' life was filled with love, laughter, hard work, and an unwavering dedication to her family and community.
Boots was raised during the Depression era where she learned the value of hard work from a young age. Despite facing challenges and adversity, she always maintained a positive outlook on life. Boots had a deep love for fishing and gardening, but her true passion resided in the art of growing flowers and indulging in various crafts. Her creativity knew no bounds as she poured her heart into everything she touched.
Throughout her life, Boots worked as a house cleaner for many local families and also at Yancy Coal where she diligently cleaned their office. However, her caring nature touched the lives of those around her. Boots always had a helping hand ready for anyone in need and cherished the time spent connecting with people.
Family meant everything to Boots; they were the center of her world. She loved them more than life itself and left an indelible mark on each one of them. Boots is survived by the love of her life, Paul Phipps of Wallins, KY. Together, they shared a bond built on love and devotion.
Boots leaves behind a legacy in her children: Nick Cole of Harlan, KY; Joyce (Ed) Vorderbrueggen of Florence, KY; Gail (Wayne) Caldwell of Versailles, KY; Teddy (Mel) Walters of Dalton, GA; Paul "Junebug" Turner of Wallins, KY; and Willard Turner of Wallins, KY. The memories they created together are cherished treasures that will forever hold a special place in their hearts.
She was a beloved grandmother to Angie Cole, Dewey Cole, Dana Caldwell Goh, Eleshia Caldwell Scholes, Tish Walters, Getina Walters Stone, Brady Walters, and Jessie Laws. Boots experienced the joy of seeing her family grow further with 16 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren. Each generation was blessed with her unwavering love and guidance.
In this time of grief, we must remember to celebrate Boots' life and the beautiful moments she shared with us. She will be remembered for her kind heart, infectious smile, waving finger, and the warmth she brought to every room.
Boots is preceded in death by her beloved grandparents, Albert and Elizabeth Short Cole; her parents, Leander and Lizzie Cole; her brothers Lowell Cole, Mahlon Cole, Bill Cole, Jimmy Cole, and Avery Cole; her sisters, Geneva Cole Wattenburger, Neila Cole Stewart, Lorine Cole Lane, and Agnes Cole Carroll; as well as three angel babies.
The family will receive friends on November 19th from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Mount Pleasant Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 7:00 PM with the Reverend Don Browning officiating. Graveside services will be held on November 20th at 12:00 PM at Resthaven Cemetery, with Dewey Cole, Ryan Cole, Brian Cole, Brady Walters, Cole Everett, Damien Bach, Travis Harris and Cody Stone serving as pallbearers. The family will leave in procession to the cemetery at 11:30.
Henrietta "Boots" Turner leaves a legacy of love that will continue to be felt for generations by all Blessed to have known her. Her memory will forever live on through the stories shared by friends and family. May she rest in eternal peace knowing her profound impact on our lives.
