Henrietta “Etta” Bennett
Etta Bennett, 71, of Cawood, Kentucky, peacefully went home to be with Jesus on Friday, October 26, 2018 at Corbin Baptist Regional Hospital after a long illness. She was born in Smith, Kentucky on November 2, 1946. She married Chester M. Bennett, Sr. on March 14, 1966 in Jonesville, Virginia and they were married for Forty-Four years until his passing in 2010.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, Abner Wilder and Emma J. Stewart; Brothers, Junior Wilder, Vernon Stewart and Fred Stewart; Sister, Freda Neff.
Still surviving is a Daughter, Sheila Carmical and Husband Deanio of Harrogate, Tennessee; Three Sons, Chester M. Bennett, Jr. and Wife Sandy of Cawood, Kentucky, Michael Bennett and Robin Fugate of Louisville, Kentucky and Devin Bennett and Wife She-ra of Grays Knob, Kentucky. Etta was lovingly referred to as “Mamaw” by her eight surviving granddaughters who she loved each in their own special way. They are Megan Bennett of LaFollette, Tennessee, Kierstyn Carmical Arnold and Husband Blake of LaFollette, Tennessee, Presleigh Carmical of Johnson City, Tennessee, Madyson Bennett of Lexington, Virginia, Michaela Bennett of Louisville, Kentucky, Aubrey Bennett of Evarts, Kentucky, Madelynn Bennett of Evarts, Kentucky, McKenzie Bennett of Harlan, Kentucky and finally, her first Grandson, Devin Anthony Gage Bennett of Grays Knob, Kentucky.
Her surviving siblings are Sue Hensley of Anderson, Indiana, Clarissa “Isha” Smith of Smith, Kentucky and Jimmy Wilder and Wife Sandy of Anderson, Indiana. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She loved all of her family and especially enjoyed visits from her niece April Seals and her family, Misty Shepherd and her family and watching her Kentucky Wildcats play basketball with her nephew Daniel Neff.
Etta was a retired employee of Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital. She spent twenty-seven years of creating fond memories and special friends throughout her career. She was a member of the United Steel Workers union. She was a born-again Christian, loved reading her Bible and believed in the Church of God Faith.
Visitation will be Monday, October 29, 2018 from 5PM to 8PM in the Chapel of Mount Pleasant Funeral Home with Funeral Services following at 8PM. Spencer Burkhart will be officiating. Burial will be Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at 11AM. The family will meet at the graveside at Middleton Cemetery in Smith. Family and Friends will serve as pallbearers.
