Franklin Swanson Jr.

Franklin Milburn Swanson Jr. , 70 of Gulston, left this life to join his Lord and Savior in Heaven on January 31, 2023. He was born on July 12,1952 to Franklin Milburn Swanson Sr. And Opal Lee McQueen Swanson of Harlan.

Franklin was a dedicated worker and was a Coal Miner with 43 years of experience with the last 10 years being at Lone Mountain before retiring in 2017. He loved the Lord and wanted to get closer to him everyday.

Franklin is preceded in death by his Parents.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving Wife of 46 years, Rita; his two sons who were their daddy’s boys and he loved dearly, Franklin Swanson of Powell, TN and Jason Swanson and Wife Miranda of Powell, TN; He leaves six grandchildren that he was very proud of, Destiny Sanders and Husband Jordan on Berea,KY, Aiden and Logan Swanson of Williamsburg, KY and Addison, Briar and Barrett Swanson of Powell, TN; Two Brothers, Paul Swanson and Russell Swanson of Cawood; Four Sisters, Angelina Grubbs of Cawood, Patricia Reeves and Husband Donnie of Cawood, Rachel Swanson of Cawood and LouVeda Hensley and Husband Denny of Gulston; He also leaves a host of Nieces, Nephews, many Friends and his Church Family at the Little Creek Pentecostal Church.
Visitation will be Thursday, February 2, 2023 from 5PM to 8PM in the Chapel of Mount Pleasant Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be Friday, February 3, 2023 at 1PM also in the Chapel with Gary Grubbs officiating. Burial will follow in the Swanson Family Cemetery with Family and Friends serving as pallbearers.
