Flora “Granny Flip Flop” Bailey Burns, age 85, of Bledsoe, KY passed away May 13, 2014 at the Harlan ARH following a long illness. She was born October 10, 1928 in Harlan Co., KY to the late Abe and Nancy Huff Bailey. She was a homemaker and a member of the Bledsoe Pentecostal Church for 69 years, becoming a member when she was 16 years old.
Besides her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Carlo Burns; children: Nancy Hensley, Fayetta Burns, and Reva Burns; brothers: Charlie, John, Berto and Richard Bailey; Sister, Vina Johnson; son-in-law, Henderson Farley; and 4 great grandchildren.
Left to mourn her passing are her children: Frankie Asher, J.C.(Tammy Wilson) Burns and Billy Ray (Mary) Burns, Irene Farley, and Rachel Miniard all of Bledsoe, KY, and “Tootie” (Pete) Patterson of Baxter, KY; Brothers: Elihue Bailey of Bledsoe, Abe (Lois)Bailey of Gulston, and Otto (Lila) Bailey of Arkansas; Sisters: Ann Esteridge of Loyall, Rose Pace of Wallins, Lydia Caldwell of Bledsoe, Lola Brock of Annville, KY and Tressie Johnson of Michigan; 16 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 16 great great grandchildren.
Visitation will be at the Bledsoe Pentecostal Church Thursday, May 15, 2014 beginning at 5PM. Funeral will be Friday, May 16, 2014 at 1PM also at the Bledsoe Pentecostal Church with Reverends Perry Long and Gary Grubbs officiating. Burial will be at the Burns Cemetery, Bledsoe, KY with grandsons serving as pallbearers.
