Elmon Middleton, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend passed away on September 1, 2024, at the age of 86. Born on October 20, 1937, in Smith, Kentucky, he lived a life marked by dedication and unwavering commitment to his family.
Elmon courageously served as a veteran of the United States Army and as Union Iron Worker, Elmon's hands were calloused from decades of hard work, yet his spirit was warm and generous. Known as a man of few words, he believed that actions spoke louder than anything else. His word was his bond, and he would move mountains for his loved ones. Those who knew him understood that beneath his quiet exterior lay a heart filled with compassion and strength.
Elmon leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish his memory. He is survived by his sons, William "Keyster" Middleton (Tamara) and Chris Allen (Jennifer); his sister, Nada Hensley; and his dear grandchildren, Precious Middleton, Christopher Allen, Jeremy "Buzz" Middleton, and Amber Allen. They will remember him not only as a father and grandfather but as a steadfast protector who always demonstrated the importance of family.
He was preceded in death by those who will now greet him in eternal rest—his beloved wife, Hazel Middleton; his son, Jeremy Middleton; his parents, Meb and Sitney Bargo Middleton; as well as his brothers, Bill and Maynard Middleton, and sisters, Helen White, Adeline Napier, Lena Perkins and Barbara Arcand. Though he has left this earthly realm, the bonds of love he forged continue to resonate in the hearts of those he held dear.
Elmon Middleton will be honored at Mount Pleasant Funeral Home in Harlan, Kentucky. Visitation will be held on September 7, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by the Funeral Service starting at 1:00 PM with the Reverend Doug Daniels officiating. Interment will follow at the Middleton Cemetery in Smith, KY with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
As we gather to celebrate the life of a remarkable man, we remember his loyalty, the lessons he imparted, and the love that he so freely gave. While he may have been a man of few words, his legacy is filled with profound love and unforgettable memories that will forever linger in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
