Elihu Bailey

Elihu Bailey, age 88, of Bledsoe, KY passed away October 23, 2015 at the Harlan ARH. He was born February 19, 1927 at Bledsoe, KY to the late Abraham and Nancy Ann Huff Bailey. He was a construction worker and believed in the Pentecostal faith. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army.

Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by wife, Martha Simpson Bailey, daughter, Wilma Bailey, brothers, Charlie and John Bailey, and sisters, Flora Burns, Merkie Ann Estridge, Vina and Tressa Johnson.

Survivors include children, Jack (Joann) Bailey, Ruby (Tim) Hearald, Scott (Barb) Bailey, Eula (Mark) Brock, Eldora (Dee Dee) Brock, Lola (Cliff) Gaines, Lack (Ruby) Bailey, Elihu, Jr., James “Beaver” Bailey, and Angela Patrick Holbrook, brothers, Abe Bailey, Jr. and Otto Bailey, sisters, Rose Pace, Lydia Caldwell, and Lola Brock, 35 grandchildren, 51 great grandchildren, and 7 great great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Sunday, October 25 from 6 to 9pm at Mount Pleasant Funeral Home. Funeral will be Monday, October 26 at 1pm in the chapel of Mount Pleasant with Rev. Perry Long officiating. Burial will be at the Green Hills Cemetery, Bledsoe, KY with friends and family serving as pallbearers. The Harlan County Honor Guard will be performing military rites.
