March 31, 1944 — October 22, 2021

Edward (Ed) Virgil Arvin, 77 of Stanfield, passed away on October 22, 2021 at Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital with family by his side. He was born to the late Christopher Turner Arvin and Rosa Lumpkins Arvin on March 31,1944

Ed is preceded in death by his parents; Loving wife of 46 years Betty Arvin; Brothers and Sisters, Lilly May, Boyd Lee, Fred, Bradford, Merle, Earle, Henry, Elmer, Lorraine, Greene and Rosemary.

He was bigger than life to his family and he loved them with all of his heart. His love for pestering the grandchildren will remain a cherished memory for the rest of their lives. To simply describe his personality the kids would probably say, If Mrs. Lovingly and Mr. Ornery had a son they would name him Edward Arvin. Ed was a hard working man who supported his family by working at the coal mines. He cherished his family history and often summoned the loving memories of his mother, father and siblings to share a life lesson. Along side his cherished wife Betty, they provided the family with a solid foundation to build generations to come. When Ed wasn’t working, he loved working on cars, fishing with the family, playing a game of pool with friends, or a nice competitive game of cards. He may or may not have cheated at rummy. The bottom line is, he was a family man who was fiercely loyal to those that he loved.

Edward leaves to Cherish his memory his Sons, Virgil Arvin and wife Patty of Harlan; Jimmy John Arvin and wife Lisa of Harlan; Daughters Corrine Kirkland and husband Chuck of Missouri; Maudie Miniard and husband Tony of Harlan; and Dennie Lively and husband David of Harlan; Grandchildren: Danielle Brewer, Anthony Miniard, Derek Lively, Reverend Brenton Lively, Patrick Arvin, Johnathan Arvin, Michael Shepherd, Ashley Vincent, Autumn Kirkland and Ian Kirkland; 15 great grandchildren; Sisters, Corrine Short of Ohio; and Brenda Casey of Arkansas; Brother, Turner Arvin, Jr. and wife Mava of Arkansas; Sister-in-Law Lois Arvin; A Special Nephew, Chris Peace, a true friend.
