Dwayne E. Lewis

Dwayne E. Lewis, Sr., 75, passed away in the early morning of Wednesday August 7, 2024, in Lexington, Kentucky. Born on February 7, 1949, in Harlan, Kentucky, Dwayne's journey through life was marked by his unwavering work ethic, integrity, and love for his family.

During Dwayne's early years in Harlan, he was one of the beloved sons of the late Haverd and Clara (Stewart) Lewis. He shared his childhood with his late brothers Randy (Lynn), Darrell (Barbara), Bobby (Diane), and Timothy (Rachel) Lewis, and his remaining sister, Janice (Johnny) Thomas.

After serving his country in the Army during the Vietnam War where he obtained the rank of Sargent and earned a Bronze Star, Dwayne returned home to begin a career in HVAC as co-owner of Harlan Heating and Cooling. His work ethic and expertise in his field were well-known, and he was respected by colleagues and clients alike. Eventually, Dwayne moved to Lexington. Not quite ready to retire, he began working for Spears Industrial until his well-deserved retirement.

Dwayne's legacy is carried on by his family, including his late wife, Sandy Lewis, who was his partner in life's journey for many years. He is survived by his son, Dwayne "Wayne" E. (Megan) Lewis, Jr. and his grandchildren, Paul, Sam, and Molly Lewis.

Visitation for Dwayne will be Monday, August 12th from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Milward - Southland located at 391 Southland Drive, Lexington, Kentucky. A second visitation will be Tuesday, August 13th from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Mount Pleasant Funeral Home located at 122 N Cumberland Ave, Harlan, Kentucky. Funeral service for Dwayne will begin at 11:00 am, Wednesday, August 14th at Mount Pleasant Funeral Home with interment in Wilder Cemetery to follow.
