Della Rachel Sellers Ingram passed from this life on February 22, 2018. She was born on June 27, 1947 in Harlan, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Roger and Katherine Howard. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband, George Ingram, her brother Tim Howard, and her special aunt and namesake, Della Fee. She is survived by loving children, her son George Michael, of Harlan County Kentucky, daughter, Becky (Shelli) of Wilder, Kentucky, and grandson, Connor of Wilder, Kentucky. She was a second mother to her surviving sisters: Donna (Raymond) Cox, Danta Saylor, Susan (Earl) Croushorn, and Debbie (Jaime) Marion. She was also loved by her seven nieces and nephews, and eleven great nieces and nephews.
Della was a member of the Wallins Baptist Church and showed her love of the Lord in all aspects of her daily life.
She earned her bachelor’s degree at the University of the Cumberlands and her Master’s degree at Union College. She was selected due to her expertise and experience in elementary education to travel to school systems in California, Texas and Louisiana as an instrumental consultant in establishing an ungraded primary system for the National Alliance for Restructuring Education.
As dedicated educator, in her 30+ years, she was a positive influence in the lives of thousands of children in the Bell County, Holy Trinity, and the Harlan Christian School Systems. More recently, she worked with her son Mike managing his law office. She was the type of person everyone loved, respected, and was honored to be her friend.
She had the most beautiful, compassionate caring soul of anyone you would ever meet, and she provided a home for every stray creature that passed her door.
Her proudest accomplishment was her loving family and she will be missed dearly.
“For her worth is far above rubies, strength and honor are her clothing, and on her tongue is the law of kindness, her children rise up and call her blessed” Proverbs 31
