Charles "Toby" Howard

Charles “Toby” Howard, 89 of Harlan, passed away on January 17, 2024 at the Harlan ARH with his family by his side. He was born to the late Burval and Nella Kellums Howard on April 16, 1934. He loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He worked for General Motors in Dayton, OH for several years until he retired. He made friends with everyone, if you didn’t know Toby when he walked up to you, you would know him when he left. To know him was to love him. 

Mr. Howard is preceded in death by his Parents and Siblings, Felix “Sonny” Howard, Burval Howard Jr., Freddie Mae Sewell, Jean Fristmeyer and Sara Combs. 

Toby is survived by his loving wife of over 65 years, Ada Howard; Sons, Toby Howard and Wife Jill and Nick Howard and Wife Tracey; Daughters, Marvenia Howard Bowman and Tiann Howard; Ten Grandchildren and Seven Great Grandchildren; Special Friends, Charlie and Betty Wallace of West Carrollton, OH.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 25, 2024 from 11AM until 1PM. Memorial Services will begin at 1PM with David Johnson officiating. Toby loved people and he loved animals just as much. The family requests that because of his love and passion for animals over the last several decades that in lieu of flowers please make donations to the Harlan County Animal Shelter.
