Mr. Charles Haley, age 89, of Harlan, KY entered his Heavenly home Sunday, July 10, 2016 at University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, KY.
Mr. Haley was a longstanding member of the Elcomb Baptist Church and retired from L&N, which later became CSX after 49 years of employment. He was a WWII Army Veteran where he served from 1944-1946 in the 775th Tank Battalion.
Born July 31, 1926 to the late Jess and Hazel Haley, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Sybil Louise Mason Haley; children, Katherine Sprinkles and Deborah Bowman; brother, Elmo Haley and sister, Shelby Jean Haley Mills.
Left to mourn his passing is his wife of 12 years, Frances Wright Haley; children, Robert and wife, Thelma Haley, Mary and husband, Jack Hampton, Nick and wife, Tammy Wright; brother, Robert (Leota) Haley; grandchildren, Robert Varian Haley, Desari Haley, Charles Austin Haley, Ricky Burkhart (Sheila), Deena (Tony) Charles, Shanni (Billy) Kazy, Robert Scott Bowman, Maria Bowman, Larry Bailey, Aaron (Kristen) Hampton, Eric Hampton, Christy (Jamie) Johnson, Nicholas Wright; special great grandchildren, Autumn Bowman, Deborah Bowman. Several other great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and a host of family and friends also survive.
Visitation for Mr. Haley will be held on Monday, July 11, 2016 from 6 PM until 8 PM in the chapel of Mount Pleasant Funeral Home and the service will follow on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at 11 AM in the chapel with the Reverend Josh Hensley officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Cemetery with Danny Haley, Charles Haley, Joshua Haley. C.J. Seals, Nick Wright, Jack Hampton, Eric Hampton, Aaron Hampton and Dawson Charles serving as pallbearers.
