Mrs. Callie Broughton, a beloved homemaker known affectionately as Granny, passed away in Harlan, KY, on June 1, 2024. She was born on July 21, 1937, in Leslie County, KY.
Callie's life was a testament to her unwavering faith and deep-rooted love for her family. A pioneer woman at heart, she found joy in tending to her gardens and feeding her family, raising farm animals, and embracing the spirit of a true country woman.
In the loving memory of Callie are her devoted children: Charles (Paige) Broughton, Betty Massingale, Nancy (Tom) Massingale, Earlene Rouse, Rebecca (Mark) Ward, Amanda Broughton (John Gibson), Betina Broughton; her cherished brother Joe Turner; sisters Juanita Treadgill, Eula Scearse, Wanda Turner, Leslie Curry, Nancy Cornett, Darla Turner; daughter-in-law Carol Broughton; 15 grandchildren; great-grandchildren Anna Massingale, Christina Harper, Hailey Broughton, Cole Broughton and eight other great-grandchildren; multiple great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who will forever hold her dear in their hearts.
She is reunited in eternal peace with her parents, Charlie Turner and Iva Miniard Turner, her husband, Earl Broughton and her son, Scott Broughton.
A visitation to honor Mrs. Broughton's life will be held at Mount Pleasant Funeral Home in Harlan on June 5th from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 3:00 PM. Nathan Boggs will officiate the service.
Mrs. Callie Broughton will be remembered for her strength of spirit, kindness towards others, and the love she shared generously with all who knew her. May she rest in peace as her memory lives on in the hearts of those who loved her dearly.
