Buster Perkins, age 82, of Baxter, KY passed away Sunday, March 16, 2014 at his home. He was born December 8, 1931 in Yancey, KY to the late William Granville and Athena Baird Perkins. He was a coal truck driver and mechanic for Master Blend Coal Co. and loved restoring antiques cars and jeeps. He was a member of the Cornerstone Community Church. He served his country in the United States Army being stationed at Fort Knox for his tour of duty.
Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Thomas Dale Perkins, son-in-law, Tim Creech, and brothers, Donald, Darrell, and Chester Perkins.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Myrtle Pace Perkins of Baxter, KY; children: Karen Gail (Raymond) Helton of Tremont, KY, Tina Creech of Tremont, KY, Harry (Jan Rose) Perkins, Jr. of Harlan, KY, and Melissa (Roger) Burke of Wallins, KY; sisters: Francis (Edward) Coleman of Pike Co., KY, Marcia (Clayton) Miller of Baxter, KY and Nan (Bruce) Love of Granite Falls, NC; grandchildren: Kristen Bailey, Travis Helton, Ryan Creech, Christi Bargo, and Cindy Childers. Also surviving him is his beloved dog, Becky.
Visitation will be Tuesday, March 18, 2014 from 5 to 8PM at Mount Pleasant Funeral Home. Funeral will be Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at 11AM in the chapel of Mount Pleasant with the Rev. Jeff Mills officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Cemetery with family and friends serving pallbearers. Full Military Rites will be performed by the Harlan Honor Guard.
