Barbara J. Lewis, 66, of Rockford, IL went to be with the Lord Saturday, April 26, 2014, at home, after a four year battle with myelodysplastic syndrome, surrounded by family and friends. She was born May 2, 1947, in Vincennes, IN, daughter of Merlin and Maxine (Drieman) Mouzine, Sr. She attended Bruceville Grade School, Junior High School and Lincoln High School, graduating in 1965. The family moved to Rockford in 1966. Barbara worked at Atwood Automotive for 31 years, until the closing of the company in 1997. Her favorite loves were family, traveling with friends, animals, gardening and crafting. Barbara married Harvey G. Lewis on Aug. 29, 1967, in Loves Park. They enjoyed traveling, fishing and camping together.
She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; brother, Merlin Jr.; sister, Darlene; and nephew, Merlin III.
Survivors include her aunt, Barbara Schlomer; great-nephew, Payton Mouzin; great-niece, Justine Rossalas; special niece, Michelle Griffin; god-daughters, Andrea and Emilia Wingo; and several loving family members and friends.
Services will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, at Delehanty Funeral Home, Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park, IL with visitation from 4 p.m. to service time. Pastor Dan Outler will officiate. Graveside Serice will be Friday, May 2 at 10AM at Resthaven Cemetery, Keith, KY with Rev. Arnold Martin officiating.
