Aquila Jones

Aquila Leah-Ann Jones, 52 of Fresh Meadows went to her heavenly home on Friday December 10, 2021 at Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital. She was born July 18, 1969 to Rev. Simon Sr. and Sharon Jones.
Aquila was a member of the Church of God of the Free People her entire life. Going to church and spending time with her family was her greatest joys. She spent several years as a Sunday School teacher. She also worked for KCEOC child development for 20 years. Working with children was her passion.
Aquila is preceded in death by her parents: Reverend Simon Sr and Sharon Jones, Grandparents: Clayborn Edward Jones, Naomi Ruth Howard Jones Smith, Rev. Ora and Bertha Jones, Sisters: Naomi Ruth Jones, Keturah Murray and Lavonda Coots.
She is survived by her family that will miss her greatly her sisters Tana Dillman and husband Noble, Rolanda Smith and husband Lee, Jessica Black and husband Billy, Brothers: Simon Jones Jr and wife Judy, James Jones and wife Kim, Samuel Jones and wife Missy, Jonathan Jones and wife Nicki. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, family and friends to mourn her passing.
Visitation will be Saturday December 11, 2021 and Sunday December 12, 2021 from 3-8 PM in the Chapel of Mount Pleasant Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be Monday December 13, 2021 also in the chapel at 2 PM with Reverend Vonny Jones and Reverend Allen Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Harlan Memorial Gardens at Lay Hill with Brothers of the Church serving as pallbearers. Family respectfully asks those attending wear some form of Face Masks.
